Assumed identity

There's been a lot of dressing up going on around here lately, which I just love. I wasn't sure, as the mom of two boys, just how much of this I would get to experience. It was one of my favorite activities as a young girl- I had a couple of friends who had thrilling "dress up" bins or chests, which provided us with hours of imaginary fun. I try not to gender stereotype my boys too much, but didn't know if this type of play would appeal to them. But, happily, both Sam and Elias both seem to love trying on different identities and incorporating outfits into their play. Our dress up bin is slowly growing, although admittedly it is heavy on the knight/warrior themed stuff. Not too surprising there...

So, without further ado, let me introduce you to:

We're Back!

Sorry for the long delay in new blog posts. We've been extra busy these days, and I guess I just needed a little break from my computer, which had been acting up and irritating me. It seems to be feeling better now, thank goodness!
So, what's new with all of you? We have been relishing the lovely spring season we've been having here in Napa. It warmed up considerably last week, with a heat wave bringing 90-100 degree weather. That was a little too hot for me, but the kids were thrilled to be busting out their swimsuits and the slip n' slide. Things have cooled back down again and hopefully it will be another month or so before we really enter the long, hot summer.
We've been spending a lot of time outside, enjoying our big yard and our friendly neighbors. Lots of soccer and basketball, bike riding, and fort making. Our little gardens are still producing prodigiously- lots of greens and herbs. The tomato plants are looking good, so I'm hoping we will get a bumper crop this year.
Here are a few new fun pictures of the boys, who continue to grow and play and eat like it's going out of style!

Here is one boy in the tub, playing with trucks and shaving cream. Good, clean fun.

Here are two boys in the tub, with shaving cream. This is another matter all together.

Go Giants!

We trekked down to SF on Monday night to watch the Giants play (and beat!) the CO Rockies. We had a very fun time- we had great seats and lots of ballpark food. We got to the game early so we could watch some of batting practice and check out the kid's area, which turned out to be very entertaining for all.

First stop was at the store to check out some merchandise.

Then we headed up the kid's area. Here are the boys waiting for their chance to bat and run the bases in the mini Giant's field.

Check out all the Giants hats on these boys- yes, we bought some for Sam and Patch too.

Sam was first at bat for the Mosher team. Nice stance!

He swings,
And it's good! A home run!

Elias is up next, with a little help from Dad.

He bunts!

And runs the wrong way around the bases, stopping between third and second to throw his hat in the dust.

We finally make it to our seats for the opening pitch. Here is Jeff, explaining some of the finer points of the Game to Patch, who really just wants to know what we are eating next.

Sam. ready and waiting for that fly ball. (It never came our way).

Cheering...or heckling, I can't tell.

What's up there?

We had fun!

Even if just with the new hats.
