Memorial Mayhem

Guess how we spent our Memorial Day? Here, how's this for a clue:

Yep, Atti had his first, and hopefully last, trip to the ER yesterday. He had a classic run in with a coffee table that ended up with his teeth through his bottom lip. Youch!!! Poor little guy was just a sad bleeding mess when I had him checked out by our paramedic neighbor. And it was off the the hospital with us. Fortunately the cut was already healing up great 4 hours later when we were finally seen by the one ER doc on duty. He decided that stitches were probably not necessary as Atti's super human healing power was already in effect. The nurse cleaned him up and sent us on our way, with a prescription for penicillin and instructions to come back if it opened up again or started oozing puss. Thanks for the insight, Kaiser!!

Here is our boy. Aw, such a sad little mug.

And here is one tired mama, holding on tight! Atti is continuing to heal well and is able to eat no problem. He has also taken to saying periodically, "My bang is ok!", which is pretty darn cute!

An interesting and ironic side note to this story is that Sam also has a fat lip and cut up mouth, a result from colliding face first with a glass slider door. This happened a mere 12 hours before the Atti incidence. How's that for odd? Sam is ok- he was pretty shaken up by the experience of course, but he didn't go all the way through his mouth, like A did. We are sharing the penicillin all around, and keeping Patch in a padded room for the time being.

Hiking with the preschool

Last week I accompanied Patch and the rest of his preschool class on a lovely hike in the Napa hills. For a bunch of 3-4-5 year olds, some of whom had never hiked before, they all did really well. They loved the feeling of adventure and exploration that comes from an afternoon in the woods. We spotted lots of birds and bugs, climbed a few trees, and experimented with peeing in the great outdoors. All in all, a very successful preschool outing!

And we're off!

Bugs!
A beautiful day in Napa.

Happy hiker

Missing Sam

Sam is away on a three day trip with his 3rd grade class. They are camping in a walnut grove on a beautiful organic farm about 2 hours away. For the next three days they will fully participate in farm life- weeding, milking cows, harvesting food for their meals etc. I know they are having a fabulous time and am a bit sad that neither Jeff nor I was able to chaperone this trip. And while it is undeniably easier to have only 2 children to care for, we are missing our Sam! Here are a few pics of our big boy, in case you are missing him too!

Chocolate bunnies

Yesterday the big boys asked and were given permission to eat the chocolate bunny pops from their Easter baskets. There was much excitement and cheering, as I am pretty stingy with the amount of sweet stuff I will allow them to eat. So, with much fanfare the bunnies were unwrapped, and with tiny, savoring nibbles the boys dug in. After about 15 minutes they were both only about half way through and feeling done. The bunnies got wrapped back up and stashed away for another day.

I've trained them well!

Feisty,

independent, opinionated, loud, ornery, strong willed, exhausting...these are just a few of the adjectives attributed to my youngest son these days. He is truly a handful.

You could also call him sweet, loving, hilarious, and cheerful.

And cute. Lucky for him he is very cute!

And long haired. Check out those tresses!

Easter Outtakes

I failed to take one really good picture on Easter. I did manage to capture a number of funny outtakes. Enjoy!

Almost cute, but not quite. But I do like this one, as you can see their awesome Easter outfits that they all picked out for themselves.

Thanks Atti.

This one, I love.

Actually not an outtake at all, but a really cute photo of Atti. It's so much easier to achieve when there's only one!

The best of all 3 together. Did you notice that Atti is totally rocking the Farrah Fawcett look these days?!

A Royal Weekend

So this was kind of a rough weekend here at chez Mosher. Jeff was away and almost all of us came down with an icky spring cold. Luckily Grannie and Grandpa were here to help me out and keep me sane with some grownup conversation and fresh salad greens. And also, there was this little event over in England that you might have heard about.
I was totally blase about the wedding in the weeks leading up to it, and barely gave all the press coverage a bit of thought. But, man, once I saw Kate in that beautiful dress, looking so radiant, and happy, and poised- I was hooked. Every time I needed a little break this weekend, a little peaceful "me" time, I would check out of single parenting and check into the wedding. I learned all about British royal wedding rules and traditions, drooled over the carriages and tiaras, swooned over the sheer romance and elegance, and giggled at some of those crazy hats (you know the ones!). It was such a lovely escape and truly became my happy place this weekend.

I'm sure you have all had your fill of the event at this point, but in case you somehow missed it:

Jeff is home now and we are all feeling better. Except now I'm thinking I might relocate to England. Harry is still a bachelor after all...
