Our neighbors have some wild blackberry bushes that grow alongside our fence and hang tantalizingly into our back yard. One of favorite summer activities is propping up ladder and picking as many luscious berries that can be reached from "our side". I thought the season was pretty much over when I came outside last night and found Sam had scaled the fence on his own for a newly discovered bunch of ripe berries. They are so delicious freshly picked- warm, juicy, and sweet. I couldn't blame him for going after them, but had to curtail to the scavenging due to risk of bodily harm!
Sam wanted me to add here that he actually picked a lot more, but that this was all that was left from the bounty by the time I had gotten the camera out!

New knitted goodies from grannie
Here are the boys modeling their latest Grannie creations. They were very excited to receive these gifts after seeing Gran work on them over the summer. They were back to school presents, because, oh yeah, Sam started 1st grade this year!! I can hardly believe my boy is in real grade school now- how these years of parenthood have flown by. Sam loves school- he claims it is even more fun than kindergarten, which is very high praise. His teacher is excellent and Sam is learning all sorts of amazing things like spanish and knitting. We are so lucky to have found such a wonderful school- I feel lucky everytime I pick him up!

Quote of the Day
Sam is very excited about becoming a big brother again. He likes to check in with my belly in the evenings and loves feeling the baby kick. It's been a couple of weeks since I've updated him on all the new developments, so today I showed him a picture of what the baby looks like now.
"Wow- he's really dissolving into a real person now!" He was so serious and sweet- I'm so happy that this new baby will have such great brothers to grow up with.
Here is a picture from our recent ultrasound. Pretty cute, huh?
