Quote of the day

Another delightful gem from my boy Patch:
"Mom, what is hip hop?" he asks last night. "A kind of music" I tell him.

"Oh…and the people who like that music are called hippies, right?"

You've got to admit, that does make a certain kind of sense…

Happy Birthday to Me!

How this month of November has just flown by! I had a wonderful birthday a few weeks back and have been meaning to post these pictures since then, but, wow, now it's almost December! Oh well…

My day was a great one; fun, relaxing, and full of delicious food and sunshine. Having a November birthday and growing up in Massachusetts meant almost always a cold and often rainy birthday. But here in Northern California, November looks like this:

In between eating scrumptious food prepared by my personal chef we went for a long hike.

And gave getting a family picture our best shot!

Better luck next year!

Quote of the Day

This one needs no introduction:

Patch, in the middle of dinner tonight

"I'm going poop, and I'm taking my soup!"

I guess he liked the dinner...

Quote of the Day

Atti was home sick today. He had a fever and needed to take a long, late morning nap. He finally re-emerged from bed at about 11:30am. After getting him snuggled up on the couch with a blanket and tea, he looked around and said, "After I take a long nap, when I get up, I feel like I am floating on air."

That, my friends, is one good nap!!

Quote of the day

This gem dates back to the day of Patch's injury. I had arrived at school to collect him and was checking in with his teacher about the incident. I knew Patch and a classmate had collided on the playground, but wasn't sure how the huge gash on his forehead had actually occured. I had asked Patch, but he wasn't too clear on the turn of events either. That was when she informed us that it was the other child's teeth that had cut Patch's head. Patch considered this quietly for a few moments, as we walked to our car, anxious to get to the doctor.

"Mom?", he asked softly, "Does that mean that Audrey's teeth are still in my head?"
Ready to get those stitches out!

Unhappiness is...

having to get seven stitches in your eyebrow on Halloween. Poor Patch! He and his classmate collided while playing, ironically enough, "hospital tag" early in the school day last thursday. Her teeth met his forehead, and won. Patch was, in true mosherboy form, a total trooper through it all. No crying, patient, brave, and stoic.

He got a little impatient at the end when we had to remain at the doctor's because I almost fainted and wasn't allowed to drive us home until my blood pressure returned to a normal range, but that is another story…

He is still pretty tender and swollen, but the stitches are already out and he is healing up well. It will be a Halloween we will always remember!
