A Happy 4th

We enjoyed a fabulous 4th of July evening, courtesy of Jeff and the Robert Mondavi Winery last week. Every summer the winery puts on a summer concert series on Saturday nights. We lucked out as the 4th landed on the Saturday, with Preservation Hall playing. PH is a New Orleans Jazz band that has been playing forever. They have been doing a concert at the RM Winery every summer for the last 39 years or so. The winery is a great venue for a summer concert, with everyone camped out on the grass right in front of the stage, with the grape vines directly behind you. Grannie, Sam, Patchie, Atti, and I got to the winery shortly before the show started. Jeff had already staked out an area for us, complete with blanket, lawn chairs, and a stocked cooler. He was busy taking care of his paying guests, but not too busy to say hello and bring us some yummy dinner! The joint was jumping and everyone was in a great mood. The music was terrific! The boys were dancing and looking just adorable in their 4th of July themed attire. Towards the end of the show, Sam and Jeff followed a bunch of other concert goers right onto the stage with the band and rocked out!! Once it got dark enough we were then treated to a private fireworks display so close that it almost looked like they were going to fall right onto our heads!
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th as well!
